About the operetta

With "The Merry Widow" Franz Lehár created a worldwide success that can still be found on programmes regularly to this day. Between the ambassador's ball and Maxim's, waltz-time bliss and fine irony, an operetta unfolds full of emotional artistry, elegance and timeless melodies.

All hearts lie at the feet of the wealthy widow Hannah Glawari, yet she has no intention of marrying again – but when lips fall silent, she lets herself be enchanted. Next summer, the Lehár Festival Bad Ischl brings this unique worldwide success to the stage. For the first time in Austria, the piece will be performed in the extended, fast-paced revue version after Erik Charell.

You have never experienced the touching story of the wealthy widow, the lost lover and Parisian joie de vivre quite like this – a triumphant piece, a sensual and opulent dance operetta that leaves nothing to be desired.
