Safety and ecology
Below you will find interesting information on the topics of safety and the environment. Here you can find out how environmentally friendly coach travel is and why Switzerland's most modern coach fleet contributes to your safety.
We have compiled all the important details on these topics in a brochure for you. You can download it here:
Safety
The coach is the safest motorised means of transport of all. EUROBUS constantly strives to achieve the latest safety standards and to keep improving them. Our aim is to offer you safety as well as unique quality, so that you can enjoy your journeys with us even more:
Experience
EUROBUS looks back on a long tradition. Since 1909 we have done everything in our power to ensure the satisfaction and safety of our guests. We use our many years of experience to invest in your safety.
Operating licence
A licence is required to run a coach company. It authorises the company to transport passengers. EUROBUS holds a valid licence issued by the Federal Office of Transport (FOT) for commercial cross-border passenger transport by coach.
Tour escort / coach driver
Tour escorts/coach drivers are aware of their responsibility. Each of our drivers is thoroughly trained and regularly takes part in internal and external safety and driving training as well as further education. In addition, the drivers must regularly undergo a medical check as required by law.
Safety standards on board
EUROBUS operates one of the most modern coach fleets in Switzerland, with an average age of just 3.5 years. All EUROBUS coaches are equipped with seat belts. Wearing them is compulsory. On board we show a film about our safety standards. In addition, a large number of the vehicles are equipped with the latest assistance systems such as lane assist, adaptive cruise control and attention assist.
Digital tachograph
All our coaches are equipped with the tachograph required by law. It records every movement of the coach and shows whether the driver has observed the legally required rest and driving times. The tachograph is checked regularly by the authorities.
Speed
The maximum speed for coaches in Switzerland is 100 km/h. If this speed is exceeded, the automatic speed limiter intervenes and slows the engine down to the permitted maximum speed by itself.
Coach maintenance
Our coaches are put through their paces regularly. They undergo a technical inspection by the cantonal road traffic office once a year. All our vehicles meet the safety requirements demanded by the state and are, in addition, equipped with state-of-the-art technology.
Ordinance on working and rest hours (ARV)
Compliance with the statutory ordinance on the working and rest hours of professional motor vehicle drivers is a matter of course at EUROBUS. Driving and rest times, maximum weekly working hours and breaks are observed with us. The tachograph is used here as a means of control.
Emergency organisation
Even for minor emergencies, our on-call service is available to you around the clock. In the event of incidents of greater significance, a crisis team is set up, made up of a trained core team and external specialists. Here EUROBUS cooperates with the Travel Helpdesk of Allianz Insurance, which is responsible for looking after relatives in exceptional situations.
Insurance
EUROBUS is insured beyond the statutory requirements. Liability damage (passenger insurance) is insured for a sum of CHF 100 million per claim. Additional accident insurance covers, among other things, unlimited treatment costs for 5 years, as well as rescue and transport costs.
Ecology
The coach is not only the safest but also the most environmentally friendly motorised means of transport. From an ecological point of view, too, the coach should therefore be the transport of first choice. Per person, it uses by far the least energy compared with the car, the aeroplane and even the train. This results in low pollutant emissions. The graphic below illustrates this best:
myclimate
With us, the climate travels better, too. Climate change is one of the greatest global challenges of our time. We are all affected by it and must help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. With a coach tour you are already well on the way (see the graphic above). Climate protection goes even further with us, however. At EUROBUS you have the opportunity to offset the CO2 emissions of your round trip. Your offset contribution is used for various climate protection projects via the non-profit organisation myclimate. On eurobus.ch you will find the corresponding offset contribution for every tour. For the Cinque Terre tour, for example, this is CHF 6 per person. You can find out which projects are supported by the myclimate contributions in the following brochure:
